This five-station course has 15 different exercises, with each station featuring bars or a bench to help you work your various muscle groups. You can do some pull-ups and sumo squats and stretch those hamstrings. This all-in-one workout is free to use. After your workout, grab your picnic basket and head over to the grilling station to work on meeting your protein intake for the day. 

The park also has basketball courts and a jogging path for those looking to get in cardio with their strength training. Regardless of your interest or skill level, this challenge can help you focus on your health and wellness while enjoying the spring weather.

Get Outside at Leesylvania State Park

Leesylvania State Park is 556 acres of greenery and outdoor fun. The park offers boating docks, camping grounds, hiking trails, fishing areas, and numerous historical markers for those who love being out in the elements. There are four tents-only campgrounds available, for which reservations are required. Cabins are also available, and fees start at $115 for two-bedroom accommodations.  Anglers can start their adventure at 6 a.m. and continue until sunset. However, there is an overnight boat fee of $10 per boat, and registration is required. 

For more leisurely activity, consider walking the trails in the park or just visiting one of the picnic areas for a bite to eat with your family or friends. The visitor center is open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features a marina store and Snack Shack if you get the munchies.

Manassas, Virginia, has a long and storied history that begins way before European settlers came to the area. This makes it a great spot if you’re a history buff. But even if you’re not, you’ll still find Manassas’ past interesting. The team at Koons Woodbridge Buick GMC has taken some of the most important and unique facts about the area and compiled them in this guide. Then we provide some options for places you can explore to learn even more about how Manassas came to be what it is today.

Native Peoples

Prior to settlement by Spanish, English, and French colonists, the Algonquian Federation tribe inhabited the Manassas area near the Occoquan River, while west of the Fall Line were the Siouan-speaking Manahoac people. These tribes fished in the rivers and hunted for deer, turkey, and buffalo. The Algonquian people had villages up the river, and in addition to fishing and hunting, they grew maize and planted other crops. The nomadic Manahoac people burned forests to create grasslands, which attracted the buffalo they hunted. As settlers came to Manassas, they displaced the Native Americans.

Railroad Days

It took a long time for Manassas to grow beyond its days of being a simple agricultural community made up of rural farms. But once the Orange and Alexandria rail line and the Manassas Gap line formed a junction in what is today Manassas in the 1850s, the area really started to take shape. The route here was ideal because of the relatively flat land that made it easier for trains to pull heavy loads. The rail lines could follow the river and achieve grades that weren’t as steep as lines running elsewhere in nearby areas.

War Breaks Out

The rail lines also made it easy for troops to move in and through the area when the Civil War broke out in the 1860s. It would seem that the lines had made it here just in time. In fact, two major Civil War battles took place in Manassas. The First Battle of Bull Run in July 1861 was the first prominent land battle of the Civil War. Later, in August 1862, the Second Battle of Bull Run took place with Confederate troops victorious in both battles. After the Civil War, Manassas incorporated, becoming an independent city.

Future Development

After incorporating, Manassas began to expand. Thanks to the railroad, many industries could conduct business in and around Manassas because they were able to ship their goods anywhere in the country. In the 1960s, IBM built a computer chip manufacturing plant here that employed many residents. Today, some of the largest employers are Micron Technology, Lockheed Martin, and the Novant Prince William Health System. The area continues to attract tech companies due to its proximity to Washington, D.C., and New York City. In 2020, the U.S. Census reported that Manassas’ population grew by 13% and now has 42,772 residents.

Liberia House

Built in 1825,Liberia House has deep roots in the Manassas community. The house was originally owned by William J. Weir and his wife. During the Civil War, it served as headquarters for both Union and Confederate armies. Presidents from both sides met with their generals right in this very house, making it a unique place. It’s constructed of bricks made on-site with Virginia red clay. This is one of the oldest buildings in Manassas, and you can tour it during special events and the annual Bee Festival in June.

Annaburg

Annaburg is a Classical Revival structure with Prussian influence. German millionaire Robert Portner constructed it in 1892, and it originally sat on 2,000 acres. Today, the surrounding land only comprises just over 3 acres, and it’s Manassas’ newest park. The grounds open to the public daily from dawn to dusk.

Manassas Industrial School/Jennie Dean Memorial

At the site of Virginia’s first school for former slaves, you’ll find a life-size statue and monument to the school’s founder, Jane “Jennie” Serepta Dean. She was a former slave herself, and she wanted to create a place where everyone could learn. Although there’s no school standing at the location today, you can visit the monument to pay homage to the work of this exceptional person.

Cannon Branch Fort

Take a step back in time and see the earthwork fort built during the Civil War at Cannon Branch Fort. This park allows you to stroll through the beautiful Virginia landscape and imagine what it was like for the soldiers during that terrible war. The earthwork was created to protect the rail line that brought supplies to Union troops.

Mayfield Fort

You can see more of the remaining earthwork forts at Mayfield Earthwork Fort Park. At this 11-acre site, you’ll find interpretive signs that describe some of the events that took place here during the Civil War as well as a home from the 1700s and the cemetery for the family that occupied it. It’s free to visit and open daily, so there’s no reason not to go.

Check out the James & Marion Payne Memorial Railroad Heritage Gallery to see artifacts and historic photos that depict the railroad history of Manassas. Since the rail line has been active in the area for more than 150 years, it’s important to learn more about how this aspect of our history has shaped the area.

Manassas National Battlefield Park

Manassas National Battlefield Park is a national park site that helps visitors get a better understanding of the two battles that happened here during the Civil War. You’ll find original structures, interpretive signs, and trails that take you around the park.

The 2023 GMC Terrain is a compact, sporty SUV that can excel either on the highway, in the city, or while offroading. With a wide variety of capabilities, it’s important to understand that some versions of the GMC Terrain are better suited for certain types of driving and that there are performance packages and additional capabilities you can get with optional features that help the vehicle excel wherever you want to drive it. Keep reading to learn more about the 2023 GMC Terrain’s offroading capabilities.

Trim Levels

The 2023 GMC Terrain comes in four trim levels, which is the primary decision for its offroading capabilities. these trim levels are the SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. The SLE is the base version of the vehicle and the Denali is the high-luxury version. The SLT is a step up from the SLE in that it includes more comfort and technology features, but it doesn’t greatly expand on the capabilities of the previous trim level. 

If you’re looking for the trim level that offers the most offroading capability, then the AT4 is the best. It comes packed with features that give you the means to do some offroading with the vehicle including a skid plate underneath the chassis and different driving modes to help on a wide variety of terrains such as sand, gravel, mud, and snow. This version of the Terrain also comes with all-terrain tires, to help you drive on or off the roads and highways.

Additional Options and Packages

While GMC offers several optional packages for the Terrain, there’s only one that really increases the offroading capabilities of the vehicle. The Tech Package gives you additional cameras that can provide high-definition surround views of your vehicle. This can help you navigate tight spaces in the city or while offroading and can keep you aware of your surroundings in a variety of circumstances. 

Engine Capabilities

All trim levels, including the AT4 come with the same engine and transmission capabilities. Each is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine. This engine gives the Terrain 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. This is plenty for the compact SUV, allowing it to reach decent highway speeds and get around 25 mpg in the city and about 28 mpg highway. Paired with an automatic 9-speed transmission, the GMC Terrain is an excellent SUV across multiple terrains meaning you don’t have to worry about whether your engine holds up while offroading.

Performance

Besides the basic engine capabilities, the Terrain has some trailering provisions that give it the ability to tow 1,500 pounds of cargo. It also has stability and traction control systems to reduce the risk of the vehicle rolling over and allowing it to get the integral traction it needs to succeed at offroading. The AT4 comes with all-wheel drive as a standard feature, meaning you can get power to each wheel of the vehicle, giving it better traction and control on a variety of surfaces.

Dimensions

While compact, the GMC Terrain offers plenty of space for passengers and cargo to meet various lifestyles. Regardless of which trim level you choose, you get the same amount of space including two rows of seating. Below are the dimensions of the GMC Terrain:

• Front headroom: 40.00 inches.
• Rear headroom: 38.50 inches.
• Front legroom: 40.90 inches.
• Rear legroom: 39.70 inches.
• Front shoulder room: 57.20 inches.
• Rear shoulder room: 55.60 inches.
• Front hip room: 54.40 inches.
• Rear hip room: 51.80 inches.
• Cargo behind the first row: 63.20 cubic feet.
• Cargo behind the second row: 29.60 cubic feet.

These dimensions mean you have plenty of space for yourself, your passengers, and any cargo you want to store in the vehicle. With the trailering provisions, you can also attach a trailer for even more storage if you’re on a long trip. 

Comfort

Depending on the trim level you choose, you can get access to different comfort options. Standard across all trim levels you get the option of adaptive cruise control to help you rest on long drives. On the last three trim levels, you get a dual-zone climate control system, which comes as an optional feature for the SLE trim level. Then, you can also get heated front seats standard for all trim levels except the SLE where it comes as an optional feature. The Denali can also get outboard passenger seat heating for the rear seats as an option.

Beyond these comfort features, there’s even more. You can get optional USB ports on the SLE trim level, with the others having these as a standard feature, a Wi-Fi hotspot-capable vehicle as an optional feature across all trim levels, and a wrapped steering wheel on every level except the SLE. Finally, the Denali trim level comes with an exclusive wireless charging pad so you can rest your phone on the device and keep it at full battery.

Safety Features

As a modern SUV, the 2023 GMC Terrain comes with a host of safety features. First, all trim levels come with a following distance indicator, forward collisions alert system, and front pedestrian braking. Then, you can get an optional high-definition reverse camera on the SLE, which is a standard feature for all other trim levels. After that, you get hill descent controls on all trim levels, which can help you on rough off-road terrain. Interior Colors and Materials

The options you have for interior colors and materials depend on the trim level of your Acadia. Below are descriptions of the materials and colors for each trim level:

SLE

The standard material for the SLE trim level is premium cloth. For the colors, which only affect the cloth seating material, you can pick a jet-black color for both the primary and accent colors or a cocoa primary color and light ash gray accent color for the interior of your GMC Acadia.

SLT

The STL trim level’s standard option for materials is a perforated leather trim. This can come in either jet-black for both the accent and primary colors or a cocoa primary color paired with a light ash gray accent color, the same as the SLE but for the perforated leather interior of the SLT.

AT4

The colors for the AT4 interior are the same options as those for the SLE and SLT trim levels. For the materials, however, you get to choose between premium cloth or perforated leather, with the premium cloth interior being this trim level’s standard option. This gives you more flexibility with the interior design of your 2023 Acadia. This option gives you the most materials to choose from but is limited to the color options of the previous trim levels.

Denali

The Denali is the ultimate trim level for the 2023 Acadia. With this option, the standard material is perforated leather, which comes in the same color combinations as all the other trim levels plus you can choose a Denali exclusive design that features a dark galvanized gray primary color with a light shale gray accent. This option gives you the most choices for colors, but is limited to only the leather material.

Comfort

Inside the 2023 GMC Acadia, there are plenty of comfort features, especially at the higher trim levels. Standard across all trim levels are ten cupholders space throughout the vehicle so you can place drinks and water bottles securely while the vehicle is moving. The SLT, AT4, and Denali all have heated front driver and passenger seats, which is an optional feature for the SLE. You can also get heated rear outboard seats as an optional feature on the SLT and AT4, with this option being standard on the Denali.

Finally, the Denali comes standard with a memory system so it can adjust to your specific needs automatically. This is an optional feature for the SLT and AT4, and is unavailable on the SLE trim level.

All trim levels of the 2023 GMC Acadia come packed with standard safety features. These include a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, and front pedestrian braking. Other entrees include grilled hanger steak and eggs, a grilled chicken Reuben sandwich, traditional eggs Benedict in a special sauce, and your choice of waffle or brioche French toast with berries. 

Available side dishes include mouthwatering homemade French fries, spinach in a fluffy garlic cream, sauteed green beans with shallot butter, and traditional breakfast potatoes. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you’ll love the bistro’s many brunch desserts, which range from traditional crème brûlée to chocolate lava cake complete with vanilla ice cream. Locals know Pete’s for its New Haven-style pizza, but you can also order pies like tomato pie, which has tomato sauce, pecorino cheese, olive oil, garlic, and oregano, or an arugula pizza that comes with white pizza, marinated tomatoes, red onions, arugula, and parmigiano-reggiano. Some savory pizzas you can order from Timber Pizza Company include classic favorites like Cheese Please or Pretty in Pepperoni.

The menu also has specialty pizzas like Green Monster with basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, feta cheese, kale, and zucchini, or The Lucy, which has provolone and mozzarella blend, parmesan, ricotta salata, fresh mozzarella, roasted sweet potatoes, and oregano. While locals know this place for its incredible pies, you can order yummy salads and empanadas like the slow-roasted pork empanadas, or the Samman salad with seasonal greens, roasted sweet potatoes, shaved beets, pistachios, crispy sweet potatoes, Za’atar, and Za’atar vinaigrette.

They really do cook your pizzas in 90 seconds in an oven that’s 800 to 900 degrees. The flour has low levels of gluten, and the dough has flour, sea salt, water, and yeast, which the staff leaves to rise for 48 hours. Additionally, there are vegan options available but not gluten-free.

Enjoy the restaurant’s mouth-watering pies like sausage and peppers, meat lovers, Napoli, and al pollo. After polishing off the pies, satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner with desserts like tiramisù or double chocolate “Kinder” mousse, which is an Italian fresh, handmade dessert pastry cup and double chocolate mousse inspired by Kinder Chocolate.

If you’re in the market for a new pickup truck, there are plenty of reliable options available. Notably, you may consider the GMC Canyon, the GMC Sierra, and the Chevy Silverado. Upon first glance, you might lump all these pickup trucks in the same category. The truth is, they can each fulfill customers’ varying needs, so it’s important to understand their differences. Read on to learn about these three versatile pickup trucks and decide which is right for you.

Engine and Performance

Even though these vehicles may look different from one another, they have the similar performance under the surface. The 2023 Chevy Silverado, 2023 GMC Sierra, and 2023 Canyon come with a 2.7-liter turbocharged high-output engine as their standard engines. This engine delivers impressive power without sacrificing durability, as it produces up to 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. It can deliver torque on demand thanks to the unique dual-volute turbocharger that provides priority cooling and oiling for tough jobs.

While this is the standard engine, the engine options can vary depending on what trim level you get on each pickup. Another engine to consider, regardless of what vehicle you get, is a 5.3-liter Ecotec3 V-8 engine. The Chevy Silverado is unique in that it also offers customers the choice of a slightly larger Ecotec3 V-8 engine that’s 6.2 liters in size.

With the Silverado or the Sierra, you also have the option of a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This option isn’t present in the Canyon, so you may consider the Silverado or Sierra if you’re looking for a diesel-powered truck to welcome into your driveway.

As far as performance goes, all three vehicles have impressive handling capabilities. They provide a smooth driving experience and have varying degrees of off-road capabilities so drivers can tackle tough terrain. If you need to haul some items around with you, any of these trucks is suitable for the task. The 2023 Silverado can tow up to 13,300 pounds with the Duramax engine, while the 2023 Sierra follows closely behind with a towing capacity of 13,000 pounds. Even though the Canyon can only tow a maximum of 7,700 pounds, it’s still a monster vehicle that’s suitable for recreational towing needs.

Exterior

The Sierra, Silverado, and Canyon are all impressive trucks with rugged construction elements that are sure to tower over other vehicles. For example, the Sierra comes with the option of a monochromatic grille with gloss-black mesh inserts. This simple look is sleek and sophisticated, which is the perfect combination for standing out on the road. Other available exterior features with the Sierra include 33-inch all-terrain tires and dark nickel inserts.

One of the most notable exterior features of the Silverado is its variety of colors. While the Sierra and the Canyon are available in multiple colors, the Silverado may have the most diverse color lineup. The options for the 2023 model are Dark Ash Metallic, Red Hot, Northsky Blue Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, Harvest Bronze Metallic, Summit White, Black, Glacier Blue Metallic, and Sand Dune Metallic. Whether you’re looking for a neutral color to blend in or a bold color to stand out, you’ll likely find the shade you want with the Silverado’s options.

The Canyon is the smallest vehicle of the three, but it doesn’t hold back in looks. It has many exterior features that help it fill out its form. Some of the available exterior features include a winch by COMEUP, an off-road front bumper with a Safari Bar, and reconfigurable bed rails. We also love all the available tire options for the Canyon. For example, you can keep things simple with the 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels or gain some extra height with the 20-inch diamond-cut machined aluminum wheels.

Interior Features and Infotainment

The Silverado, Sierra, and Canyon all offer amazing infotainment and interior features to enhance your riding experience. For example, with higher trim levels of the Silverado, you can get real wood trim accents and leather seating surfaces. Plus, you can access an expansive 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen.

Take a peek inside the base trim of the Sierra, and you’ll find a 13.4-inch diagonal center touch screen and a 12.3-inch diagonal driver information center as standard features. Some luxurious interior perks include an available jet-black interior with Kalahari accents and heated and ventilated front seats.

Depending on the trim level you get for the Canyon, you can get an exclusive obsidian rush interior with ceramic white accents or a jet-black interior with teak accents. The infotainment screen in the Canyon is a bit smaller than it is in the other trucks, as it’s only 11.3 inches. However, it’s just as intuitive so you can make your desired selections for music, directions, and phone calls.

Safety Features

All three trucks have advanced safety features so you can feel comfortable and confident on whatever journey you take. For example, the Canyon offers 10 available camera views using rear and front underbody cameras. This way, you can gain a better view of what’s going on underneath and around your vehicle so you can maneuver it more easily. Also included are driver-focused screens so you don’t have to take your attention away from the road and a display screen that provides data on your off-road performance.

With the Sierra, you get access to a combined 40 inches of driver-focused digital display screens. You can remain confident and connected with the available GMC Pro Safety and GMC Connected Services. There are also 14 available camera views, including a front top-down view and a surround-view, to ensure you always know what’s going on near your vehicle.

Every Chevy vehicle comes with the Chevy Safety Assist package with no added costs, and the Silverado is no different. This standard package has six safety features, which include front pedestrian bBraking and forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking. In addition to these standard features, you can opt for additional safety technologies.
