Woodbridge lies nestled next to the Occoquan and Potomac rivers just a short drive from Washington, DC. The city offers a wide range of quality dining experiences, including several excellent brunch options. Brunch is the perfect meal if you’ve skipped breakfast but it’s still too early to go for lunch. Whether you’re up for an egg dish or you’re desiring something sweet to get you started for the day, these Woodbridge restaurants are worth checking out the next time you’re in the mood for a filling brunch.

The Secret Garden Cafe

Located just a few miles north of Woodbridge in the heart of Occoquan Historic District is the Secret Garden Cafe. The restaurant is in a building that dates back to 1840 and has a welcoming, homey feel. Surrounding the building is a luscious, secluded garden with an array of gorgeous flowers that are fun to look at during the spring and summer months and make for the perfect atmosphere. The Secret Garden Cafe’s brunch menu includes favorites like the Spanish Breakfast, which features cilantro lime rice combined with black beans, pork, and sausage.

Other filling options include the Breakfast Salmon, which features fresh Atlantic salmon served with roasted potatoes and scrambled eggs. Different variations of homemade French toast are also available if you’re in the mood for a sweeter brunch. Each item contains fresh, seasonal ingredients. You can also ask your server about the daily specials.

World Of Omelettes And Waffles

Head over to World of Omelettes and Waffles at 13775 Jefferson Davis Hwy for a classic American diner experience that’s hard to find in this day and age. The diner’s breakfast sandwiches and all-day breakfast options make for a delicious brunch. It’s especially hard to go wrong with an egg and cheese sandwich, a sausage, egg, and cheese, or a simple platter of eggs. Side orders include crispy country ham, smoked hot sausage, hash browns, corned beef hash, bagels and fruit, and even steak.

The Harbour Grille

It’s not every day that you’ll find a restaurant that offers waterfront dining, delicious drinks, and a great brunch menu, and the Harbour Grille has all three. The grille borders the Occoquan River in North Woodbridge at 13188 Marina Way. With a relaxed, casual atmosphere, you’ll feel right at home. The grille opens early at 10:30 a.m. to serve brunch each Sunday, and it stays open until 2 p.m.

You can enjoy a variety of freshly cooked breakfast foods at the brunch buffet, including chicken, eggs, and potatoes. If you’re up for a drink, you can head over to the restaurant’s famous Bloody Mary and mimosa bar. The large outdoor deck is a great spot to soak in the beauty of the Occoquan. After brunch, check out the fire pit and cornhole set. The Harbour Grille also offers live music every weekend with genres ranging from southern rock to reggae.

Bistro L’Hermitage

If you have a refined palette and you love splurging on French-style food, check out Bistro L’Hermitage at 12724 Occoquan Rd. just west of the Occoquan River. The cozy, quaint restaurant has a European look and feel and serves a fantastic Bisque d’Homard, or lobster bisque served with sherry cream. Available side dishes include mouthwatering homemade French fries, spinach in a fluffy garlic cream, sauteed green beans with shallot butter, and traditional breakfast potatoes. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you’ll love the bistro’s many brunch desserts, which range from traditional crème brûlée to chocolate lava cake complete with vanilla ice cream. Brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a..m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Spot on Mill Street

One popular item is the traditional chicken and waffle platter, featuring a sweet, chewy waffle topped with a piece of crispy, salty chicken. This Southern delicacy is the perfect sweet and savory brunch dish.

The Spot on Mill Street also offers bubbly mimosa flights and spicy Bloody Marys if you feel like living on the edge a bit. Try to arrive at brunch early, since items tend to go fast once it starts. The restaurant also allows you to book your table in advance online.
