Dan Morningstar was extremely professional, helpful and flexible in scheduling my most recent audio/video maintenance appointment, My only negative experience was the Courtesy Shuttle vehicle that I was driven back home in. This vehicle did not represent the level of professionalism, image, pride and excellence that GMC is known for. I w as driven home in an old Honda van (not even a GMC vehicle) that looked like it belonged in a salvage yard. The driver Jesse was extremely professional, courteous and a joy to ride with, however his Mgr must provide a more professional and presentable GMC vehicle. Investing in this “free advertising” opportunity will do wonders for current customers, future sales and GMC reputation of excellence in you do.

The was my second time buying a car from Koons GMC Buick Dealership, Woodbridge; and they didn’t disappoint me. I knew I wanted a 2025 Buick Envista Avenir in White Frost paint. I spoke with Michael Jones (my Sales Associate in 2021). He told me they didn’t have that particular Envista in stock but he would check around. He promptly called me back and said if I was sure that’s what I wanted, they had located one and would bring it to Koons. They did and I bought it that very day! I couldn’t be happier with my new Envista Avenir and Koons!!

I was told I by the salesman that I would get $3250 in rebates and 0.9% financing. I filled out a credit app before going to the dealership(45 minutes away). When I arrived at the dealership, the salesman met me, showed me the vehicle, I test drove the vehicle and went back into the office. After being there for almost and hour, the salesman informed me that he was incorrect. That I could get the rebates or the 0.9%. Then the finance guy came and told me that the finance company would not loan money to my Trust(which I wanted the vehicle titled in the name of my trust). I had to fill out a new credit app in my name. More time. While waiting I specifically asked the salesman if the 110V outlet in the bed of the truck would run air compressor, battery chargers, etc. He said yes, absolutely. I found out he was incorrect when I got home and tried to use a circular saw. The outlet will not run it. Once I was finally approved for credit, I went to the finance guys office to complete the paperwork. He tried to tell me that I could not register the vehicle in Essex county without the loan docs having the same address(which I do not live there). I disagreed strongly. He continued to complete the paperwork his way. He finally called someone else and admitted he was incorrect and that I was right. More time to change the documents. I ended up being there for over 3 hours when the salesman told me no more than an hour. All that said, I have to title the vehicle in my name until I pay off the loan, then title it in the name of my trust, which will cost more money and more time. Overall the salesman was very friendly, but apparently did not know as much as he boasted. Not happy with the overall experience with buying my vehicle from Koons.

I was happy with my salesman he found me the car I was looking for. I was not happy with our finance guy we went over a specific number that we wanted to walk out the door and we got bamboozled. We set a price of 75k out the door and he told us over the phone that we would pay 75k then we went over the warranty and want we wanted then when I got to the dealership, the price was 200 more and then I questioned the warranty to make sure everything was included and it wasn’t had to pay $279 more so it was an extra $500 which is not a big deal but when you go over a specific pricing and then get told you have to pay something more didn’t sit right with me was not happy with the finance guy at all. And then on top of that we were told that we were getting a discount of five grand which was a lie it was actually 3000 because you guys included the destination charge back into the pricing so overall was not happy just waiting for the other review to come back in.

The Sales experience was easy in working out a price. The Team was great throughout the process and didn't do any high-pressure sales to try to up-sell anything. Also, James was great in going over the vehicle at delivery. Only issue was in the Finance office. When we were given the interest rate I suggested it was high especially considering I have near perfect credit. The Finance manager left to "go check on something", I'm assuming he just walked out for a few mins and came back. While he was a nice guy we got gouged on the interest rate. Unfortunately after the usual lengthy time waste at the dealership we decided to get it done with the plan to refinance quickly. So the dealer will get their kickback from Northwest but they will lose the loan. Lesson learned, next time arrange financing in advance.

The engine light came on in my Buick Encore. For convenience, I took it to a mechanic close by who checked it out with a computer analysis program - 5 recommendations for a total of $3,500. Couldn’t tell me which one was responsible for engine light coming on. Took it to Koon’s who zeroed in a valve which GM actually covered. Lesson, take my car to people who know my car! After purchasing my 7th GMC in Feb '25 (Terrain Elevation) and having the water pump immediately fail at 200 miles, I thought I was doomed again with the product. There is comfort in knowing that each and every time I visit (over decades now) I have always felt like my SUV and my time were in great hands. These two gentlemen are TOP NOTCH with no equal in their field and their technical expertise and commitment to customer care is the one aspect in my life that I can count on with complete consistency 100%. This was my first experience with the service department at this dealer, Matt was very helpful and patient inspecting and hearing all the issues I found with my vehicle. I’d say that I wasn’t too satisfied with the repair as I had just bought the car brought into maintenance and I wasn’t able to get the exact replacement for my car. The dealership offered me a replacement at no extra cost, yet the replacement was a cheaper option compared to the original item. Overall they solved the issue with my vehicle but it was not the expected result I had in mind.
