The 2023 edition of the Buick Encore has arrived in our showroom, giving buyers looking for a small SUV with an appealing choice. The Encore provides two rows of spacious seating and an expansive cargo area for the subcompact SUV class. Check out the selection of Encore vehicles we’ve got in our online inventory and contact us to find out more.

Encore Engine and Performance

The 2023 Encore has only one available engine. It’s a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder unit that puts out 155 horsepower. The power train is completed by a six-speed automatic transmission.

The official fuel economy numbers for the 2023 Encore aren’t available yet, but they’re likely to be similar to the 2022 model. Last year’s Encore achieved 24 mpg on city roads and 32 mpg at highway speeds with the same power train as the 2023 edition.

Encore Seating and Cargo Capacity

Despite its compact size, the Encore’s five seats can accommodate five adult passengers comfortably. If you need to install child seating, you’ll find two sets of LATCH connectors on the two outermost rear-row seats.

Behind the rear row, you get over 18 cubic feet of cargo storage. That’s more than enough room for a large grocery purchase or the family’s luggage for a weekend trip away. With the rear seats folded down, you can open up about 48 cubic feet of space to transport larger items. Another handy storage feature is that the front-row passenger’s seat can fold flat when it’s not in use, creating room for long items to fit into the Encore.

The cabin is fitted with cloth and synthetic leather upholstery. Up front, the driver benefits from a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Chevy also gives the Encore a noise cancellation system to help make those long highway drives a bit more relaxing.

Infotainment and Safety Technology

The Encore boasts an impressive array of entertainment technology in its base setup. You get a 7-inch screen and six-speaker stereo, as well as a wireless hotspot so you can stay connected with friends or work colleagues wherever you are.

You can connect your phone to the Encore’s infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. BlueTooth and USB ports are also available.

You can opt for a number of helpful driver safety features to support you when you’re parking or traveling at highway speeds. Front and rear parking sensors can help you maneuver in and out of parking spots with confidence, while the rear cross traffic alert feature warns you if other motorists are approaching you from behind.

The rain-sensing windshield wipers give you one less thing to worry about when you’re on the road. Other available features include forward collision warning and blind spot monitoring.

Encore Packages

The 2023 Encore is sold in one trim only, known as the Preferred. However, you can choose from some packages to add a few optional upgrades to this crossover. There are two safety packages containing the driver safety technology. The Safety Package ads blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, while the Safety Package II includes the rest of the available safety tech.

If you plan on heading out of town or off the beaten track in your Encore, you may want to consider upgrading to all-wheel drive. This costs an additional $620 but will provide you with additional control when you’re tackling rough terrain. Note that even with all-wheel drive, the Encore is not rated for towing.

What’s the Difference Between the 2023 Encore and Encore GX?

It’s important not to mix up these two vehicles. Even though they have very similar names, the Encore and Encore GX have distinctive features in the interior and under the hood.

The Encore GX has a larger cargo area and more room for passengers to stretch out. However, the additional space comes at a cost, with the base Encore GX costing several thousand dollars more than the Encore.

Another difference between the two vehicles is found in the power train. The Encore GX has two engine options, a turbocharged three-cylinder that puts out 137 horsepower and a more powerful turbocharged alternative with a 155 horsepower output. Front-wheel drive Encore GXs get a continuously variable automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive models switch to a nine-speed automatic.

Unlike the Encore, the Encore GX is available in three trims: Preferred, Select, and Essence. The top-of-the-line Essence includes heated front seats and genuine leather upholstery.

In summary, while the Encore GX offers some additional options in several areas, the 2023 Encore may be better suited to car buyers who want a crossover with the basic features most people need on a modest budget.
